Living Our Faith

"And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice -- the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him." Romans 12:1

Pentecost

Our Scripture reading tomorrow morning -- as we celebrate Pentecost -- will be Romans 8:12-17.

===

However, in preparation for Pentecost, I invite you to read Acts 2:1-41 quickly as a reminder of the first Pentecost, and the amazing things that happened on that day as the Spirit was poured out and as the church spread throughout the world.

As you read it, I invite you to think about the work of the Spirit today. How do you see the Spirit working? Do you see the Spirit working? When you think of the Spirit's power, or what the Spirit does, what comes to mind?

Sometimes in the Reformed tradition we talk a lot about God, a lot about Jesus, and not so much about the Spirit. Therefore I invite you to think about the Spirit, and the role the Spirit plays in your faith life. I invite you also to pray for the Spirit to work in you, in our church, and in the church around the world.

Also, a reminder about our collection this morning for Heritage of Faith and Hope (Teresia): As you heard last week, every dollar will be matched by generous donors (up to $5000) so that Teresia and Joseph and all the staff can continue their important ministry in the home and through the school to orphans and vulnerable children in Nairobi, Kenya. Please prayerfully consider this offering, and keep Teresia, Joseph, Heritage of Faith, and the children in your prayers.
